The Lower Silesian Beer and Wine Trail is a route connecting local craft breweries and vineyards, officially established in 2018 as an initiative of the Stowarzyszenie Winnice Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian Vineyards Association) and the Dolnośląskie Stowarzyszenie Browarów Rzemieślniczych (Lower Silesian Craft Breweries Association), supported by the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
Winnica Świdnicka
Winnica Świdnicka is located in the village of Makowice, in the Świdnica municipality of Lower Silesia, at an altitude of 255 meters above sea level. It covers an area of 3.65 hectares, divided into four plots with varied soil properties. Both noble varieties, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, and hybrids, including Regent, Rondo, Muskat Odeski, Solaris, Seyval Blanc, are cultivated. More than half of the plantings consist of dessert varieties. One of the plots, due to its steep slope, has been terraced, which is rare in Poland.
HISTORY OF Winnica Świdnicka
The vineyard was established in 2001 on an area of 0.4 hectares in Makowice. In the initial years, various grape varieties were planted, and over time, new ones adapted to the local terroir were introduced. Currently, the vineyard spans 3.65 hectares across four plots with different soil properties. The name "Winnica Świdnicka" refers to the historical traditions of viticulture in the region and the proximity of the city of Świdnica. From the vineyard's hills, there is a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountain ranges: the Ślęża Massif, the Sowie Mountains, and the Wałbrzyskie Mountains.
