March 2025 may go down in the history of Polish winemaking as a symbolic turning point. During the WINO fair in Poznań, visitors had the chance to taste the first Polish non-alcoholic wine.
Winnica Folwark Pszczew
Winnica Folwark Pszczew is a family-run winery established by Żaneta and Łukasz Robak, who continue the region's winemaking tradition. The vineyard covers 5 hectares and cultivates grape varieties such as Regent, Cabernet Cortis, Souvignier Gris, Solaris, Johanniter, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Initially, 0.25 hectares were planted, but in 2017, the vineyard expanded by an additional 4.75 hectares. Wines from Folwark Pszczew have won many awards in national and international competitions. The vineyard has also obtained an organic certification, highlighting its commitment to sustainable wine production. In addition to winemaking, Folwark Pszczew has developed an enotourism offer, including vineyard tours, wine tastings, and event hosting.
HISTORY OF Winnica Folwark Pszczew
The history of Folwark Pszczew dates back to the 18th century when it was owned by the bishops of Poznań. In 1795, after the secularization of church properties, the estate was taken over by the Prussian state and later passed to Prince Hohenlohe-Jugelfingen. Over the following decades, the estate changed hands multiple times, belonging to Baron Hiller Gartrigen and, from 1859, to the zu Dohna family, who managed it until the end of World War II. After 1945, a state-owned farm (PGR) operated on the premises until its closure in 1990. After the privatization of the land, the current owners undertook the revitalization of the estate, transforming it into a modern winery that continues the historical winemaking traditions of the region.
