Winnica Zagardle

Winnica Zagardle is a family venture established by Agnieszka and Paweł Cisowski, located in the village of Szczodrkowice, in the Zagardle hamlet, approximately 12 km north of Kraków. Currently, the vineyard covers an area of 1 hectare, with around 3,800 grapevines. Both red wine varieties, such as Regent, Rondo, Marechal Foch, and Leon Millot, and white wine varieties, including Seyval Blanc, Solaris, Hibernal, Jutrzenka, Swenson Red, Saint Pepin, and Adalmina, are cultivated. The vineyard is managed with a strong emphasis on natural methods; the careful selection of grape varieties allows for minimal use of chemical treatments, and fertilization relies mainly on compost and manure. Wines from Winnica Zagardle have received numerous awards in national and international competitions, including gold medals at Galicja Vitis for sweet and dry Swenson Red wines, as well as semi-sweet Solaris. In addition to wine production, the estate operates a small dairy, producing preservative-free cheeses using organic herbs.

HISTORY OF Winnica Zagardle

The history of Winnica Zagardle began in 2011 when Agnieszka and Paweł Cisowski moved from Kraków to Szczodrkowice. Initially, they planted a few grapevines near their gazebo, which inspired them to expand their plantings. In 2013, they planted 600 vines on an adjacent plot, marking the start of a more professional cultivation. In 2015, they decided to operate the vineyard on a commercial scale, planting the main plot and enhancing their enological knowledge, including studies at the Podkarpacka Academy of Wine. Currently, the vineyard remains a small, family-run enterprise, where the owners personally tend to each vine. The processing facility and tasting room are located in the basement of their home, emphasizing the intimate character of the vineyard.
