A few days after the official announcement of results, we present a summary of TUCHOVINICONTEST 2024. This year, in the eighth edition of the contest, Polish producers won a total of 74 medals – clearly fewer than in 2023, when as many as 124 were awarded. Despite the smaller number of distinctions, there were still remarkable results and some strong comebacks to the podium.
Winnica Opole
Winnica Opole is a family-run vineyard located in the Wróblin district of Opole, near the Oder and Mała Panew rivers. The vineyard spans approximately 1.5 hectares, with plans to expand to 4 hectares. Grape varieties cultivated include Riesling, Solaris, Seyval Blanc, Souvignier Gris, Muscaris, Muscat Odesskij, Rondo, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Cortis. Wines are produced at the winery adjacent to the family home, encompassing white, red, and rosé wines. The vineyard offers tours and tastings by prior arrangement.
HISTORY OF Winnica Opole
The origins of Winnica Opole date back to around 2008, when Piotr Kondziela planted the first grapevines behind the family home. In 2017, his sons, Mateusz and Adrian, began expanding the vineyard, gradually increasing its area. In 2019, a winery was established, and in 2020, a tasting gazebo was constructed. In 2021, the first wines from the 2020 vintage were released for sale. In 2023, the vineyard experienced flooding, but operations continued.
