Winnica Dom Charbielin
Dom Charbielin Vineyard is one of the largest wine producers in Poland, located at the foot of Biskupia Kopa, the highest peak of the Opawskie Mountains in the Opole Voivodeship. Currently, the vineyard covers an area of 27 hectares, with 80% of the plantings dedicated to white grape varieties such as souvignier gris, riesling, chardonnay, muscaris, and johanniter. The remaining 20% consists of red varieties, including pinot noir, saint laurent, and cabernet cortis. The vineyard is managed using ecological practices, minimizing chemical interventions and focusing on natural cultivation processes. The winery offers both still and sparkling wines, produced with the utmost care and respect for winemaking traditions.
For visitors, Dom Charbielin provides a rich enotourism experience, featuring educational trails, tours of the winery and vineyard, and wine tastings. The surrounding area boasts attractions such as a horse stud, hiking trails in the Opawskie Foothills, cycling routes, and a well-developed accommodation base, making Dom Charbielin an ideal destination for a getaway combined with an exploration of winemaking secrets.
HISTORY OF Winnica Dom Charbielin
The history of Dom Charbielin Vineyard is closely tied to a fascination with European winemaking traditions and the rapid development of viticulture in Poland. The winery is located in restored buildings of a historic 19th-century manor farm, with the oldest structures dating back to 1898. Within these walls, modern equipment has been installed, including stainless steel tanks, 225-liter barrique oak barrels, a large press, a laboratory, a bottling line, and an individual cooling system for each tank—enabling precise temperature control throughout the production process.
From the outset, the vineyard was cultivated using ecological methods, with a focus on natural processes and minimal chemical intervention. Key decisions, such as manual grape harvesting, careful selection of bunches, fermentation at controlled temperatures, and aging in stainless steel tanks, have significantly contributed to the quality of the wines produced.
In 2020 and 2021, grapevines were planted on two plots totaling 27 hectares, making Dom Charbielin one of the largest wine ventures in Poland. The vineyard also became Poland’s first winemaking cooperative, setting a new standard in collaborative wine production. This innovative approach enables efficient vineyard management and fosters the exchange of knowledge and experience among members.
By combining tradition with modernity, ecology with innovation, and passion with professionalism, Dom Charbielin has earned recognition both in Poland and abroad, becoming a symbol of high-quality Polish winemaking.
