The Sandomierz Wine Trail is one of the best-organized wine tourism routes in Poland. It combines winemaking traditions dating back to the 13th century with a modern offer for tourists and wine lovers. It was here that Dominican monks planted the region’s first vines in 1226, and by the Middle Ages, Sandomierz wine was being exported across Europe. Today, the region is once again gaining recognition for its quality and hospitality.
Winnica Nadwiślańska
Nadwiślańska Vineyard is located in Kamień Łukawski, approximately 3 km from the center of Sandomierz, on a south-western slope in the Pieprzowe Mountains. The cultivation area covers 1 hectare, with 4,600 grapevines of the following varieties: Chardonnay, Riesling, Johanniter, Hibernal, Regent, and Cabernet Cortis. The loess soil with a shale subsoil and south-western exposure create favorable conditions for vine cultivation.
The vineyard offers tastings in a gazebo overlooking the Vistula River, vineyard tours, and on-site and mail-order wine sales. The product range includes seven wines named after Latin names of birds found in the area, including Alcedo (Chardonnay), Hirundo (Riesling), Galerida (Johanniter), Emberiza (Hibernal), Rissa (rosé from Cabernet Cortis and Regent), Tetrao (red from Cabernet Cortis and Regent), and Bubo (red from Cabernet Cortis and Regent aged 20 months in oak barrels).
HISTORY OF Winnica Nadwiślańska
Nadwiślańska Vineyard was established in 2017 by Małgorzata and Piotr Mamiński. The initial planting included 4,600 grapevines on a 1-hectare area. In 2019, wines from the first vintage were released for sale. In 2020, a tasting gazebo overlooking the Vistula River was constructed on the vineyard grounds. In 2022, the vineyard served as a filming location for scenes in the movie "Pani od polskiego" directed by Radosław Piwowarski, portraying a vineyard on the Rhine.
