A few days after the official announcement of results, we present a summary of TUCHOVINICONTEST 2024. This year, in the eighth edition of the contest, Polish producers won a total of 74 medals – clearly fewer than in 2023, when as many as 124 were awarded. Despite the smaller number of distinctions, there were still remarkable results and some strong comebacks to the podium.
Winnica Alabaster
Alabaster Vineyard is located in the villages of Łopuszka Wielka and Przeworsk in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. It covers 1 hectare, divided into two plots situated on south-facing slopes of the Dynów Foothills. Grape varieties cultivated include: Cabernet Dorsa, Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Cabernet Cortis, Regent, Leon Millot, Gewürztraminer, Johanniter, Hibernal, Solaris, and Bianca. Production focuses 90% on single-varietal wines. Red wines are aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels. Wines are named after gemstones, such as Rubin, Jantar, and Cytryn. The vineyard offers tastings for individuals and small groups by prior arrangement.
HISTORY OF Winnica Alabaster
In 2011, Zuzanna and Wojciech Jurkiewicz established Alabaster Vineyard in Łopuszka Wielka. They were inspired by the local history of alabaster mining, a mineral extracted in the region since the 1920s. Initially, they produced wine for personal use. Over time, they began selling their wines and organizing tastings.
