The results are in from one of the world’s most important wine competitions – the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024. This time, Polish wineries have secured a total of three Bronze medals.
About the competition
The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) is the largest and most prestigious wine competition in the world. The 2024 edition marked its 21st year, during which 18,143 wines from 57 countries were evaluated. Tastings were conducted by 243 judges from 33 countries, including 20 Master Sommeliers and 61 Masters of Wine.
Among the winners were both global wine icons and emerging producers from new regions. The highest distinctions – Best in Show, Platinum, and Gold – were awarded to only a select few. Just 50 wines received the Best in Show title, representing only 0.28% of all entries.
Poland’s performance – less medals than in recent years
After three very successful years (2021–2023), during which Polish wineries consistently received at least seven medals annually, this year’s result may be seen as something of a disappointment. In total, Poland was awarded three Bronze medals.
Two wineries reached the podium:
- Winnica Turnau – 2 medals;
- Winnice Czajkowski – 1 medal;
Notably, both wineries have been medal winners for at least three consecutive years, confirming the consistency and high quality of their wines on the international stage.
Congratulations and hopes for the future
We warmly congratulate the awarded wineries. While the number of medals is lower than in previous editions, Poland’s presence among the medalists at the world’s most prestigious wine competition remains a source of pride. We hope that the next edition will bring even more reasons to celebrate!
