The 30th edition of the wine competition MUVINA, held in mid-June 2025 in Prešov, Slovakia, brought a historic success for Polish wineries. Polish winemaking achieved its best-ever result in the history of the MUVINA competition. Out of 19 Polish entries, as many as 9 wines received medals.
Winnica Libiąż
Winnica Libiąż is located in Libiąż Mały, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Chrzanów County. Situated on a western slope at an elevation of approximately 310–320 meters above sea level, on dolomite-limestone soil. The vineyard covers over 4.5 hectares, with approximately 18,000 grapevines. Cultivated varieties include Johanniter, Hibernal, Solaris, Seyval Blanc, Muscat Odeski, Siegerrebe, Jutrzenka, Regent, Rondo, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Cabernet Cortis, and Cabernet Cantor. The vineyard produces white, red, rosé, sparkling, and liqueur wines. Wines are available for retail sale, in local restaurants, and during on-site tastings.
HISTORY OF Winnica Libiąż
Winnica Libiąż was established in 2011 by Ewa and Piotr Kurdziel. The initial planting included 300 grapevines. In 2012, an additional 1,300 vines were planted. In subsequent years, approximately 1,500–2,000 vines were added annually, leading to the current area of over 4.5 hectares and about 18,000 vines. In 2016, a two-story winery building with a cellar was completed. The same year, commercial wine production began. In 2022, the vineyard was included in the Małopolska Wine Trail.
