Winnica Mazovia
Mazovia Winery is one of the oldest vineyards in Mazovia, located in the village of Biejkowska Wola on the banks of the Pilica River. Its location, just a few dozen minutes from Warsaw, makes it easily accessible to both wine lovers and tourists looking for a new oenotourism experience.
Mazovia grows both classic grape varieties such as Seyval Blanc, Solaris and Regent, as well as less common varietals such as Rkatsiteli, Nero, Mstvane and Kisi. The winery specialises in cuvée wines, which are made from a blend of different grape varieties to create unique flavour compositions. The range includes white, red and orange wines, including the standout Karva - a wine created using the Kakheti method from Caucasian grape varieties.
Visitors can learn about the history of winemaking in Mazovia, walk among the vines and taste local wines during tastings combined with refreshments. The Mazovia winery cultivates the region's winemaking traditions, referring to the historical cultivation of grapes on the Pilica River, which existed here as early as the 16th century. Thanks to the combination of traditional methods with a modern approach to cultivation, this place has become an important point on the map of Polish winemaking.
HISTORY OF Winnica Mazovia
The history of Mazovia Vineyard dates back to 2005, when the owners planted their first vines, brought back from their travels in Georgia, Cyprus and Hungary. The initial plantings were in the Pilica river basin, but in 2008 it was decided to move the vineyard to its current location, which allowed for better conditions for vine cultivation.
Inspired by Hungary's centuries-old winemaking tradition, the owners learned from experienced winemakers from Eger, with oenology professor Gal Lajos as their mentor. His knowledge and guidance allowed them to develop their crops and perfect the winemaking process. The first major grape harvest took place in 2012, and in 2019 the winery officially adopted the name Mazovia - it previously operated as Wina Marcina.
The Mazovia winery draws on the rich history of winemaking in Mazovia. The owners took care of the old vines that survived in the formerly cultivated areas near Warka, where the largest Polish vineyard was located in the 20th century. Thanks to their efforts, it has been possible to preserve and propagate these varieties, continuing the tradition of grape growing in the region. Today, Winnica Mazovia combines passion, history and a modern approach to winemaking, offering unique wines inspired by both Polish and international traditions.
