Grand Prix – Winobranie
National Wine Competition for the “Grand Prix – Winobranie” Award is held annually in Zielona Góra as part of the Winobranie celebrations, with traditions dating back to the early 2000s. The competition accepts submissions of grape wines from both Polish and foreign producers, provided they meet the official requirements (e.g., legal production, labeling). The jury consists of sommeliers, wine journalists, and experts who evaluate wines anonymously using the 100-point system (with extreme scores discarded). Categories include white, red, rosé, sparkling, as well as special and sweet wines.
Starting from 2025, the Grand Prix is awarded to a single wine – the winner receives a ceramic plaque or a stylized statuette. In addition, medals are granted according to standard thresholds (e.g., ≥84 points). Further distinctions may be awarded, such as for the best regional winery, best debut, or the top wine selected by the magazine “Ferment.”. Results are published on the organizer’s website after the jury sessions, with the official award ceremony taking place during the Winobranie festivities.
